A San Bruno man has been charged with felony attempted robbery for allegedly trying to steal liquor from the Sequoia Station Safeway and then threatening to shoot the loss prevention officers who tried to stop him, San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
The man, Isaiah Karan, has been charged with three counts of attempted robbery with a firearm, three counts of criminal threats of a firearm and several other firearms charges, Chang said. He pleaded not guilty to all charges April 18.
Karan allegedly displayed what appeared to be a firearm to the loss prevention officers who stopped him on April 15 and threatened to shoot them several times. He allegedly fled the scene before police officers arrived, but was detained April 16 by a Redwood City officer, who found a loaded handgun on him.
His bail was set at $200,000 and he will have preliminary hearing May 1.
