MENLO PARK — The supervisor of a San Francisco Bay area preschool has been arrested for child annoyance because authorities say he’s been pestering a 13-year-old girl by giving her unwanted gifts and letters.
Menlo Park Belle Haven Child Development Center chief Jose Adalberto Lopez was arrested this week and booked for investigation of or molesting a child under 18. The 55-year-old San Mateo man, who is now on paid administrative leave, was released from jail and he faces a May 18 court date.
Police spokeswoman Nicole Acker says Belle Haven employees reported Lopez had given the girl unwanted gifts. Acker said she could not comment on whether the gifts and letters were romantic or lewd in nature. There is no information about the gifts.
