How a 338-unit apartment building with 100,000-square-foot fitness center proposed for a Bay-facing, 14.6-acre parcel in Redwood City will fit into its surroundings will be a focus for the Planning Commission Tuesday.

577 E. Bayshore Road

An overhead architectural rendering of the proposed development on 14.6 acres at 577 E. Bayshore Road, the former site of the Century Park 12 movie theater and parking lot.

Situated between car dealerships and a building supply store on a stretch of land east of Highway 101 and south of Whipple Avenue, the proposed development at 577 E. Bayshore Road is the site of the former Century Park 12 movie theater and parking lot. It would be less than a mile away from the Blu Harbor project expected to create more than 400 residential units available at 1 Uccelli Blvd. and the recently-opened Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 650 Bair Island Road.

The developer feeding frenzy in Redwood City continues. No immediate end in site until the 2018 elections.
