Two con men may be working in South San Francisco, South City police report in a news release.
At 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 4, two Latino men in their 40s knocked on the door of the residence of an elderly couple. They asked permission to enter the back yard, claiming to be working next door.
One of the men looked in the back and, while there, told the husband he needed to give the husband $20 as a fee. The man got out a $100 bill and asked for change. The husband said he didn't want the money.
Meanwhile the second man tried the same approach on the wife.
The couple said the two men drove off in a white, four-door sedan.
South City police are reporting the incident as a possible attempt to pass counterfeit bills.
