I’m amused by a recent letter urging voters to consider David Canepa for assessor so the office there can have better morale and leadership. Some of us do have short memories. When Canepa joined the Board of Supervisors, I recall his bitter arguments with other supervisors — and getting personal. None of his four fellow supervisors endorse him for his current run — an amazing state of politics. No, Canepa won’t likely bring leadership or happy coworkers to the Assessor’s Office.
I’ll vote for the man who got the endorsements of the many leaders who understand the role, and understand the choice. I’ll vote for Jim Irizarry.
