Central Coast Section shot putters put on quite a big show Saturday, May 23, at the CCS track and field championships. Heck, they put on quite a big show all season.
Case Jacobson
The culmination of the big show did not disappoint, as Woodside native Case Jacobson delivered the boys’ shot put title for St. Francis at the CIF State Track & Field Championships Saturday at Buchanan High School in Clovis.
Maxime Morelle
Jacobson uncorked a championship throw of 60 feet, 11 1/4 inches to inch out Sacred Heart Prep senior Maxime Morelle, who finished runner-up with a throw of 60-10. San Mateo senior Yianni Fitzgerald also climbed the state podium, taking fifth at 57-8 3/4.
Jacobson, Morelle and Fitzgerald finished one-two-three at the CCS championships.
Jacobson earned two state medals, also placing seventh in boys’ discus with a personal record 177-5.
