Class Notes: Burlingame School District celebrates Multilingual Learners

Burlingame School District celebrated the reclassification of 83 Multilingual Learners from English Learner to Fluent English Proficient. Board Trustee Katie Jay gave students a medal celebrating their multilingualism during the Board of Trustee meeting May 10. The achievement shows the district’s dedication to its designated and integrated English Language Development programs, the hard work of students, and the support and guidance from their families and teachers, said Laura McClure, who oversees the program. ‘With 39 languages spoken across our district, we embrace the rich cultural and linguistic diversity our multilingual learners bring, which strengthens our community and enhances the learning experience for everyone,’ McClure said in a statement.
