Riordan returned to the court Tuesday, Feb. 10, after a school closure following a tuberculosis outbreak, and has gotten back to the work of dominating West Catholic Athletic League boys’ basketball. The Crusaders (13-0 WCAL, 22-1 overall) won their fourth games in five days with a 55-42 victory over Serra, making up a game at Morton Family Gymnasium originally scheduled for Feb. 3.
The Padres (4-9, 12-11) used a 9-2 run in the second quarter to take a 17-15. After three more lead changes, Riordan responded with a 9-2 run of its own, and led the rest of the way.
The Crusaders resumed play Tuesday, Feb. 10 with a 63-48 win at Mitty, then won back-to-back at home, 75-41 last Wednesday over Sacred Heart Cathedral and 61-41 last Friday over Valley Christian. Riordan also earned two wins via forfeit over St. Francis and Bellarmine.
The loss drops Serra to sixth place in the WCAL. Regular-season play closes Tuesday with the Padres hosting Sacred Heart Cathedral at 7:30 p.m.
