Menlo-Atherton 16, Burlingame 7
The wild ride that is the race for the Bay Division title took another twist Wednesday with the Bears’ win over the Panthers.
The win drops Burlingame (6-2 PAL Bay, 12-7) into a virtual tie for first place with M-A (7-2, 9-5), which had lost to Sequoia Tuesday.
Evan ten Vaanholt led the way for the Bears, scoring seven times and coming away with four steals. Spencer Harding scored four goals while goalie Joseph Tompkins made eight saves.
With three matches left on the Bay Division schedule, M-A controls its own destiny. The Bears still have to face rival Woodside in its season finale.
Burlingame has four matches left, including games with Sequoia and Hillsdale.
Hillsdale 13, Sequoia 12 OT
The Knights, out of the running for the Bay title, still had a chance to play spoiler and threw a serious wrench into the Ravens’ championship hopes.
Sequoia (6-3 PAL, 11-6 overall) picked up a huge 18-12 win over M-A Tuesday to move one game behind first place and had a chance to pull into a three-way tie for first with the Bears’ win over Burlingame.
Instead, Sequoia still finds itself a game behind and no longer has control of its fate. The Ravens need to win out and then get some help if they are the grab a share of the Bay Division crown.
Hillsdale (4-5 , 10-6) took a 4-2 lead after the first period and led 6-5 at halftime. Sequoia (6-3, 11-6) outscored the Knights 5-4 in the second half to send the game to overtime. Each team scored once in the first of two mandatory overtime periods, with the Knight pulling out the win in the second overtime.
Parker Lee had a huge game for the Knights, finishing with eight points on four goals and four assists. Isaiah Yeager added four goals and assisted on a fifth, while goalie Jorge Trujillo made eight saves.
Woodside 11, Priory 6
The changes among teams ahead of them, coupled with their win over the Panthers, means that the Wildcats are still in the running for the Bay Division title.
Woodside (5-3 PAL Bay, 9-6 overall) moves into a second-place tie with Sequoia and both are one game back of both M-A and Burlingame.
Cole Richards paced the offense for the Wildcats, scoring four times. Peyton Stafford assisted on three others and goalie Brody Pfeffer finished with eight saves.
Menlo School 13, Valley Christian 10
The Knights joined Sacred Heart Prep atop the West Catholic Athletic League standings after handing the Warriors their second league loss.
Menlo (6-0 WCAL, 15-2 overall) led 5-4 after the first period before limiting Valley Christian (4-2) to just one goal in both the second and third period, taking a 11-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
While Hunter Coleman continues to lead the Knights offense, finishing with eight goals, the rest of the squad have been playing lockdown defense. Calvin Barad and Lincoln Bott combined for six steals, with Barad earning a pair of ejection — as did Coleman and Andreas Profit. Avery Kuziemko had three assists, while Menlo goalie Connor Burks made 11 saves.

Menlo-Atherton 13 Aragon 7
The Bears stayed undefeated in Bay Division play with a tough win over the Dons.
Elise Koo had the highlight of the day for M-A (4-0 PAL Bay, 10-1 overall), hauling in a 56-yard touchdown pass from Mae Kunihiro.
The Bears defense continues to be among the best on the Peninsula as they held an opponent 7 points or less for the 10th time this season. M-A had allowed a total of 39 points through 11 games, with six shutouts.
Aragon falls to 1-3 in Bay play and 4-4 overall.
Carlmont 12, Burlingame 0
The Scots kept pace with M-A atop the Bay Division standings following the shutout of the Panthers.

It is the sixth shutout of the season for Carlmont (4-0 PAL Bay, 9-1 overall), which has allowed only six points in the Scots’ last four games.
Carlmont and M-A are on a collision course to determine the Bay Division champion when the teams meet Monday in Atherton.
Burlingame falls to 2-2 in division play and 4-4 overall.
Mills 21, Woodside 6
Alyssa Peñas threw three touchdown passes to lead the Vikings past the Wildcats.
Mills improves to 2-2 in the Bay Division and 7-5 overall, while Woodside falls to 0-4 and 1-6 on the season.
Sequoia 40, Half Moon Bay 14
Senior receiver Jamie Elkington continues to put up big numbers as she helped lead the Ravens to the rout of the Cougars.
Elkington caught six passes for 122 yards, including a 57-yard score, for Sequoia (3-2 PAL Ocean, 7-10 overall). Quarterback Alexa Munguia was nearly perfect, completing 7 of 8 passes with three touchdowns.
Half Moon Bay falls to 1-3 in division play and 1-6 overall.
In other action ...
Capuchino (2-3 PAL Ocean, 3-4 overall) cruised past Jefferson (0-5, 0-7), 27-14.

Woodside 14, Terra Nova 4
The second-place Wildcats kept pressure on Bay Division-leading Menlo-Atherton as they cruised to the win over the Tigers.
Woodside (6-1 PAL Bay, 8-4 overall) win over Terra Nova, coupled with M-A’s win Sequoia keeps the Bears one game ahead of the Wildcats, who will meet in the regular-season finale to determine a division champion.
Megan Hohl filled up the stat sheet for the Wildcats, scoring four goals, collecting five assists and coming away with five steals. Makayla Cox added a hat trick of goals and steals. Woodside goalie Kate McGrory was big in the cage, finishing with 11 stops.
Aragon 10, Sequoia 2
The Dons took control of this match early, scoring five unanswered goals in the first period as they rolled to the win over the Ravens.
Aragon (4-3 PAL Bay, 7-4 overall) goalie Maria Gevorgyan held Sequoia (1-7) at bay, finishing with a dozen saves. Siena Chen led the Dons’ offense with a pair of goals and a pair of assists, while Akira Snyder added two goals.

Mills 208, Carlmont 218
The Vikings officially wrapped up the solo Bay Division crown with the win over the Scots at Poplar Creek Golf Course in San Mateo.
Irene Hur led the way for Mills (9-1 PAL Bay), firing a 1-under 34. Angelina Chen carded a 40, Christina Chen a 41 and Katie Tsang a 42 for the Vikings.
Carlmont (5-5) was led by Dakota Chang and Tessa Lee, who both shot 4-over 39s. Kathryn Winters finished with a 43 and Karuna Mungali a 46 for the Scots.
Aragon 229, San Mateo 260
The Dons secured outright second place in the Bay Division standings with the win over the Bearcats at Poplar Creek.
Kate Chong led Aragon (8-2 PAL Bay) with a 41. Ariel Ogawa was a shot back at 42, Vicky Ferrero carded a 44, while Autumn Ogawa finished with a 45.
San Mateo (3-7) was led by Aurelia Leung, who carded a 44, while Alannah Malone finished with a 46 for the Bearcats.
