Capuchino 7, El Camino 2
The Mustangs, the defending CCS Division V champs, opened their 2025 campaign with a win over the Colts.
El Camino (0-1) took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first, but Capuchino (1-0) took the lead for good with a four-run fourth and added three more in the bottom of the sixth.
Declan Mendel doubled and drove in a pair of runs to pace the Mustangs’ offense, which also got RBIs from Cameron Chin, Andres Gomez, Yulio Ceron and Anakin Manuel.
Bobby Gomez got the win on the mound for Capuchino, working five innings. He teamed with Andres Gomez to strikeout six while allowing two runs on just two hits.
Riordan 14, Woodside 2
The Crusaders overwhelmed the Wildcats in the season opener for both.
Riordan (1-0) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and added five more in the third and closed with six runs in the top of the seventh as the Crusaders knocked out 14 hits.
Woodside (0-1) scoring single runs in the third and seventh as the Wildcats were limited to just three hits.
Woodside senior pitcher Trent Amoroso, who had a magical season as a junior, was cuffed around as he got the opening-day start. He struggled with his command as he allowed seven runs (five earned) on five hits with five walks and just three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of work. Diego Perez and Jeremih Arias Torres each had an RBI for the Wildcats.
Riordan was paced by Kane Cook, who drove in four runs. Santino Williams added three RBIs for the Crusaders.
Westmoor 19, Burton-SF 7
The Rams earned their first win of the season by pummeling the Lions.
Westmoor (1-0-1) scored six runs in the bottom of the first, scored three each in the second and third before putting up a seven-spot in the fourth of a game called after 4 1/2 innings.
Matthew Cote led the offense for the Rams, drilling a home run among his three hits and driving in three runs. Nicholas Au added a three-run homer, as well, for Westmoor as the Rams pounded out 14 hits. Noel Emmanuel added three RBIs, while MJ Lim, Ethan Tam and Tiernan Murphy each drove in two run apiece.
Burlingame 6, Design Tech 3
The Panthers opened the season by rallying to beat the Dragons at Washington Park.
Design Tech (0-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Burlingame (1-0) responded by scoring two in the second and tying the game with a run in the third.
The Panthers took a 4-3 lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth and they tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Aidan Tom, Branden Hom and Logan Garrett each had an RBI for D Tech. Of the six runs allowed by the Dragons, only one was earned as they committed six errors.
In other action ...
Galileo-SF (1-0-1) needed just three innings to post a mercy-rule win over Jefferson (0-1), 21-0.

Half Moon Bay 24, University-SF 3
The Cougars crushed the Red Devils in a 2 1/2-inning, mercy-rule win in the season opener for both.
Leading 6-0 after the first inning, HMB (1-0) erupted for 18 runs in the second. Miranda Sarabia, Tessa Deeney and Megan Sarabia all drove in three runs apiece, while Bailey Avila and Sydney Sarabia had two RBIs each as the Cougars collected just three hit — but drew 22 walks, without any strikeouts.
Livermore 16, Aragon 2
The Dons got pummeled by the Cowboys in a mercy-rule game in their season opener.
Livermore (1-0) led 6-2 after the first inning before adding nine runs in the second and one more in the fourth.
Aragon (0-1) scored twice in the bottom of the first, with Brigette Brodsky picking up an RBI, while Taylor Workman tripled.

Burlingame 4, Carlmont 3
The Panthers opened PAL Bay Division play by slipping past the Scots.
The teams split the four signals matches, with the Burlingame netting the win by taking two of three doubles matches. Burlingame’s Zach Wong and Sahil Senger, playing at No. 3 doubles, needed three sets to down Jason Nguyen and Stephen Yao 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
That offset Carlmont’s three-set win at No. 2 doubles, where Daniel Jiang and Aaroha Save posted a 26-, 6-2, 13-11 win over Donovan Ranta and Spencer Phonsombat.
Alexander Bozinovic and Kadem Lam won at No. 2 and No. 4 singles for Burlingame, while Aaron Zhang and Nico Cruz won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles for Carlmont.
Sequoia 4, Westmoor 3
The Ravens opened Ocean Division play by getting past the Rams by sweeping the four singles matches.
And Sequoia was barely pushed in those singles matches. Ethan Khaw, playing at No. 1, won at love, 6-0, 6-0. Amar Evans won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-1, while No. 4 singles player Zach Heisler won 6-1, 6-0. Julian Czaja rounded out the sweep at No. 3, winning 6-1, 6-3.
Westmoor swept the three doubles matches, with two going three sets. Yukaj Zhu and James Thaw won 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Aioan Mo and Jericho Mannag posted a 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 victory.
In other action ...
Aragon dropped just 11 games over 14 sets as the Dons swept Hillsdale, 7-0.
Menlo-Atherton swept Woodside in straight set, 7-0.
Mills won No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by default as they beat short-handed Capuchino, 7-0.
Oceana won all three doubles by default as they swept past El Camino, 7-0.
