Senior linebacker Mason Nguyen had the pivotal fumble recovery in the middle tier of the field and returned it 40 yards to tie the game 21-all. In overtime, Santa Clara took the first possession and scored on a Joshua Perez TD catch from quarterback Damian Lopez. Nolan Gallo’s point-after kick loomed large, as South City answered by getting into the end zone for a TD, but opted to go for a two-point conversion that fell short of the goal line to end it.
