P-Town was an unstoppable force through the first seven games of Little League All-Stars 14s play this summer. Then they ran into Petaluma Valley pitcher Callaway Haluska in Friday night’s championship-round opener.

The Pacifica Little League All-Stars fell 8-0 in Juniors 14-and-under play Friday in Rocklin. Haluska worked 5 1/3 innings of one-hit baseball. Relievers Colt Cilia and Chris Kircher combined for 1 2/3 scoreless innings to shore up a two-hit shutout, and force a winner-take-all if-necessary game Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Pacifica recorded its first hit in the second inning when Elijah Hermosillo grounded a single to left field in the second inning. Pacifica wouldn’t manage another hit until Robbie Johnson singled to left with two outs in the seventh.
Starting pitcher Sean Bazanez took the loss for Pacifica, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and five walks through two innings of work. Brady Fitzpatrick, Will Hanson and William Gatley each pitched in relief.

Bazanez retired the first two batters he faced, but Cilia reached on a dropped popup with two outs to give Petaluma Valley some life. Trevor Hermsmeyer followed with a walk, and Noah Holley delivered an RBI single to get his team on the board. Petaluma Valley went on to score two in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
Petaluma Valley totaled 12 hits on the night. Holley went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Cilia, Dooley, Brandon Lozinto-Wyatt and Carson Lenz added two hits apiece.
Through seven previous games this summer, Pacifica had outscored opponents 56-27.
Pacifica opened the tournament with an 11-7 win over Los Gatos, Saturday, July 13. They went on to down McKinleyville 9-4, Sunday, July 14, and knocked Petaluma Valley to the elimination bracket with a 4-1 win Tuesday, July 16.
