Two freshman regulars have been leading the hit parade for Mercy-Burlingame this season, as the Bears (8-0 PAL Lake, 19-4 overall) are hitting .397 as a team. And while freshman Fefe Alusa extended her hitting streak to 22 games Wednesday in a 16-5 mercy-rule win at South City (5-2, 11-10), all eyes were on freshman Olivia Eastburn.

Eastburn improved her current hit streak to 10 games by hitting for the cycle. The freshman went 4 for 5 with seven RBIs, recording an infield single in the first, a two-run double to center in the third, and a three-run home run to right in the fourth. In the fifth, with the Bears leading 14-5, Eastburn capped the cycle with a two-run triple to left to give her team the mercy-rule differential.
Then Eastburn closed it out in the circle, as the right-hander fired two shutout innings in relief of sophomore Charlotte Kell, who improved her record to 11-2.
With the win, Mercy clinches no less than a share of the Peninsula Athletic League Lake Division crown, taking a 2 1/2 game lead over second-place South City with two games to play. The Bears travel Thursday to winless Jefferson before wrapping up the regular season against South City next week.
Eastburn now ranks second on the team with a .526 batting average. Alusa went 2 for 3 with two RBIs to improve her team-leading average to .551. Sophomore McKenna Fua added two hits and three RBIs, while Kell and sophomore Viviana Reyes had two hits and one RBI apiece.
South City sophomore Madyson Jade Quintanilla, who is leading the PAL Lake Division in each of the triple crown categories, went 1 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs. She currently ranks second in the Central Coast Section with 14 home runs, two back of Mitty sophomore MJ Fikes with 16.
