Elaina Foley, Burlingame girls’ golf. The junior helped lead the Ocean Division-leading Panthers to a pair of wins last week, 169-201 over El Camino and 169-189 over Sequoia. And Foley did it with an even-par 27 at Mariners Point Golf Complex in Foster City, breaking her own mark for lowest round by a PAL player at Mariners Point this season.
Kiefer Schultz, Woodside boys’ cross country. The sophomore made his first championship at a varsity cross-country meet a good. one. Not only did Schultz emerge from the Varsity Large Schools race at the Artichoke Invitational as the individual champ, his time of 12:14 on 2.3-mile course at Half Moon Bay led the Wildcats to the team championship as well, with a young group of qualifiers to follow in sophomore Augie Lucas (fifth place, 12:56); junior Kai Melosh (sixth, 12:56); sophomore Kgosi Mothokakobo (13th, 13:13); and freshman Calvin Peterson (14th, 13:13).
Madyson Jade Quintanilla, South City flag football. The sophomore quarterback helped the Warriors to their third straight PAL Ocean Division win with a 25-18 decision over Capuchino. Quintanilla threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season.
Iziah Singleton, Serra football. The senior running back was central to the Padres’ second straight win to start WCAL play, a 45-10 victory over St. Ignatius. Singleton needed just 12 carries to rush for a career-high 102 yards and two touchdowns.
Emilia Kunkel, Aragon volleyball. The sophomore was on point last Thursday as the Lady Dons swept past archrival Hillsdale to maintain a first-place tie with M-A in the PAL Bay Division standings. Kunkel and fellow sophomore Poppy McKenzie each recorded double-doubles, but it was the former who paced the team with 13 kills, to go with 12 digs, while hitting at a .321 clip.
Kieran Moorehead, Aragon boys’ water polo. Moorehead poured in eight goals in the Dons’ 15-8 win over San Mateo. The victory kept Aragon undefeated in PAL Ocean Division play with a 5-0 record.
Joey Donati, Terra Nova football. The senior quarterback helped lead the Tigers to a 27-0 win over Los Altos. He completed 62% of his passes, 10 for 16 for 144 yards and a touchdown and added two more scores on the ground.
Ella Vuong and Greta Martin, Burlingame girls’ tennis. The Panthers’ No. 1 doubles team rallied in a third-set tiebreaker to clinch the match-deciding point in Burlingame’s 4-3 win over Aragon, reversing a 7-0 loss to the Dons to begin PAL play. Vuong and Martin got blitzed in the first set, losing 1-6. They gutted out a 7-5 decision in the second set to send it to a third-set super tiebreaker where they trailed 8-3 in the first-to-10 points set. But Vuong and Martin tied the tiebreaker at 10-all and then went on to win 13-11 to move into a second-place tie with Aragon.
Kiera Winters, Sequoia volleyball. The Ravens made a mess of the PAL Bay Division standings last week by knocking Carlmont out of its first-place tie with a 29-27, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 victory. Winters recorded a season-high 18 kills in the match, and preceded that with a match-high 13 kills last Tuesday in Sequoia’s sweep of Hillsdale.
Ava Allen, Menlo School flag football. The junior quarterback continues to put up huge numbers as the Knights keep on winning. In two games last week, a 27-12 win over St. Francis and 38-0 over Sacred Heart Cathedral, Allen was responsible for nine scores. She threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth in the win over the Lancers. She followed that up throwing four touchdown passes and catching a fifth in the win over the Irish.
Adriana Chu, Notre Dame-Belmont volleyball. The senior served up a storm in NDB’s three-set sweep of Crystal. Entering the match with 25 service aces on the season, Chu fired a career-high nine aces in the 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 victory.
Noah David, El Camino football. Listed as a wide receiver on the Colts’ roster, David did his damage against Mills from the running back position. The senior rushed for 118 yards on 12 carries, all in the first half. He punctuated his night with a 61-yard scoring burst for El Camino’s first score in a 21-0 win over the Vikings. The Colts ran for 239 yards on the night.
