Now a month in, the Dons are just looking to somehow salvage their season, while the Bears have lost two straight. … M-A was shut out for the first time since Week 9 of the 2015 season — a 14-0 loss to Burlingame. … The 26 points scored last week was a season high for Aragon. … The Dons led King’s Academy 26-21 before the Knights scored late in the fourth quarter. … The Aragon defense had a strong showing last week, holding King’s Academy's running game to just 88 yards.
Menlo School (1-2) at Capuchino (3-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Menlo Knights were lanced by Overfelt, 48-31 last week. … The Capuchino Mustangs had a bye last week. They came away with a 38-32 win over Mountain View Sept. 15. … These teams have not faced each other since the PAL went to the three-division system beginning the 2008 season. You have to go back to 2006 to find a 42-21 Menlo win over Cap when both were in the Ocean Division. … Menlo has certainly continued its high scoring ways under new coach Josh Bowie, averaging 31 points per game. The Knights’ defense, however, is giving up nearly 35 to the opposition. … The Mustangs are one of the biggest surprises in the PAL. With roster numbers they haven’t seen in year, along with new coach Jay Oca, Capuchino has won three straight and has beaten a pair of Ocean Division teams — handily — along the way.
South City (0-0, 0-4) at Sequoia (0-0, 1-3), 7:30 p.m.
The South City Warriors are coming off a bye. They were whipped 48-8 two weeks ago by Jefferson. … The Sequoia Cherokees also had a bye. They were tripped up by Mission-SF, 31-14. … South City beat Sequoia 30-24 for their first win of the season in 2017. … Hopefully the Warriors shored up their offense during the off week because they’ll need to score more than a touchdown to win any game. Through four games, they’ve scored a total of 20 points. … The South City defense has given up more than 40 points in all four games, with Mills hanging 50 on them in Week 3. … Other than a 32-point outburst in a loss to Woodside in Week 2, Sequoia has struggled scoring as well, having failed to score more than 14 points in its three losses. … The Cherokees’ defense is giving up more than 30 in their three defeats.

The El Camino Colts were tamed by Lincoln-SF last week, 42-19. … The Carlmont Scots are coming off a bye. They came away with a 28-7 win over San Mateo two weeks ago. … Carlmont shut out El Camino in 2017, 33-0. … The 19 points scored by the Colts were more than double the amount they had scored in the two previous games — 8. … After a slow start, Carlmont appears to have figured some things out, having won two straight. … The seven points scored by San Mateo was a season low allowed by the Scots, who, despite having given up 21 points in each of their first three games, have shown well defensively. … Julian Morin rushed for 181 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries against San Mateo.

Bellarmine (1-0, 2-2) at Serra (1-0, 2-2), 1 p.m.
The Bells beat Riordan 34-20 in their WCAL opener last week. … The Serra Padres pounded Mitty, 42-6. … Serra slammed Bellarmine 48-0 in 2017. … Since 2015, the Padres hold a 5-1 advantage over the Bells, having won the last two matchups in a row. … Serra rushed for a season-high 231 yards last week against Mitty. Nate Sanchez led the way, finishing with 77 yards and three scores on just 11 carries. The Padres rolled up a season-high 442 yards of total offense. … The 34 points scored last week was a season high for Bellarmine, which also had a season-high in offense with 363 yards.
College of San Mateo (3-1) at Modesto (2-2), 6 p.m.
The CSM Bulldogs buried Fresno last week, 31-3. … The Modesto Pirates plundered American River, 27-21. … CSM cruised to a 47-7 win over Modesto in 2017. … The Bulldogs are ranked No. 6 in the CCCSIA poll, Modesto moved into the rankings at No. 20. … Since taking over as starting quarterback three weeks ago, CSM’s Terrell Carter had his best completion percentage against Fresno, hitting on 58 percent (11 for 19) of his passes. … The Bulldogs continue to play lights-out on defense. After the three points allowed to Fresno, CSM has surrendered a total of 28 points through four games. … Modesto beat the only team that has beaten CSM so far this season. The Bulldogs fell to American River, 18-13, two weeks ago. … The Pirates are one of 21 teams to average more than 400 yards of offense per game this season.
