The El Camino Colts haven’t won a Peninsula Athletic League baseball championship since 2017. After sweeping their stiffest competition in the PAL Lake Division, the Colts are now one win away from overcoming the drought.

El Camino (11-0 PAL Lake, 16-4 overall) rallied for an 11-4 victory Thursday at Harker-San Jose, finishing off a two-game series sweep of the second-place Eagles (8-3, 13-9). The Colts now lead Harker by three games in the Lake Division standings with four to play, with a pair of two-game series against fourth-place Westmoor and sixth-place Jefferson remaining on the schedule.
The bat of Hunter Tamayo loomed large Thursday, as the junior went 1 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. With the game tied 4-all in the fifth, Tamayo produced a sacrifice fly to plate Nicholas Jang with the go-ahead run. Then, with the bases loaded in the sixth, Tamayo cranked a three-run double to right.
Harker jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against El Camino starting pitcher Carlos Alcala, but the Colts responded with a 4-spot in the top of the third to take the lead. Jang connected for a three-run home run to tie it 3-3, and Adrian Iniguez greeted the Harker bullpen with an RBI groundout to give El Camino the lead. The Eagles answered back in the fourth with an RBI single from senior Jackson Powell to tie it 4-all.
Alcala finished off four innings to earn the win, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits, while navigating seven walks and two hit batsmen. Senior right-hander Michael McCauley closed it out with shutout innings to earn the save.
Senior Quentin Bromaghim paced the Colts with a 3-for-4 day with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.
