$150,000 of jewels missing
A jewelry salesman who took a quick trip to the bank returned to his car and discovered $150,000 worth of precious stones missing Tuesday.
The salesman parked his car in the 600 block of Laurel Avenue in San Carlos and went to Wells Fargo Bank on the same block. While he was doing a quick bank transaction, someone broke into the trunk of his car and took the jewels. There was no forced entry into the trunk and zero witnesses on the busy street, Sgt. Doug Eckles said.
The man didn't report the jewels missing until he got home three hours later. He told police the bank was the last place he was before he headed home.
Attempted robbery
An ATM customer had the glasses knocked off his face when a man tried to steal money from him in San Bruno.
On Tuesday at 1:34 a.m., a man wearing a white bandana over his face demanded money from a person at Bank of America on San Mateo Drive. The victim's glasses flew off when punched by the man. The man ran away.
There were no serious injuries and nothing was stolen, San Bruno police Capt. Neil Telford said.
