Somewhere there is a very, very happy 13-year-old boy. While other teenagers are begging their parents to increase their allowance so that they can buy the latest Nike shoes, soccer prodigy Freddy Adu is being paid $1 million to endorse those same shoes.

Isn't America great? The federal deficit is skyrocketing, the state budget is still an unresolved mess and some school sports programs are being gutted as a cost savings measure. But in the name of capitalism and all the rah-rah that goes with athletics, at least one adolescent won't have to worry about where he'll find the money for a number two pencil. Heck, his paycheck could buy him over 12 million of those school supplies
