Editor,

We are trying to balance an unusual voter process with serious issues for the community. While giving a lover a well-paying job, who then buys her diamond earrings and Christian Louboutin shoes is a concern. The more important issue is the loss of qualified experienced deputies and disintegration of a highly respected and effective organization. Her Evita-style actions are well documented: arresting, firing, demoting, intimidating those who disagree, causing top experienced deputies and staff to resign. Finding new hire replacements has now become a problem. Deputy staffing is so depleted they have to pull protection from the field — a murderer was found wandering loose in court halls, a female prisoner attacked by a male prisoner in the back of an elevator. Our county supervisors and local city/county representatives have struggled to find the best way to address it.
