On Nov. 4 , 2022, two young men were involved in a high speed drag race on El Camino Real in San Carlos, not far from where I live. Two adult parents were killed as result of the young men’s reckless driving. One of the young men involved at the time was 17 years of age, the other driver was 23 years of age at the time and tried as an adult. He received a far longer sentence than the younger driver.Â
The older driver was named Kyle Harrison. Recently, Kyle was 25. In March, Kyle was found dead in his cell due to a possible intake of three prescription drugs while at the Maple Street Correctional Facility in Redwood City. We will never get to know how Kyle turned out as a person and whether he might have turned his life around. Sadly. Possibly the saddest part of this story are the two 7-year-old (at the time) twin daughters (passengers) who survived the crash even though their parents passed away in this horrific accident. The accident would be the last time the twins would ever see their mom and dad. Imagine.
The youngest driver causing the accident has an opportunity to do something positive to turn not only his life around, but to also benefit the two twin girls who lost their parents that sad day.
I will be praying that this young driver can turn his life around and make a positive difference in the world we live in. Most of all, I will pray for the two twin girls and that they have a happy ending.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Thom. Unfortunately, I see a winner: the youngest driver who is not serving any time and is likely enjoying his life to the fullest, even after causing the deaths of two people.
