Editor,
In response to Cory David’s letter in the Nov. 15 edition of the Daily Journal where he says money in politics is a threat to democracy, he basically ignores the fact that Measure DD in South San Francisco is bad legislation.
Editor,
In response to Cory David’s letter in the Nov. 15 edition of the Daily Journal where he says money in politics is a threat to democracy, he basically ignores the fact that Measure DD in South San Francisco is bad legislation.
Progressives are continually thinking up new ways of spending other peoples’ money. A tax on businesses means higher overhead for those companies and the overhead simply gets passed on to customers and doesn’t affect shareholders or the company profits. We see that progressives in California, New York and New Jersey have made those states the highest taxed areas in the country while doing little to solve any of the problems those taxes are supposed to solve. Measure DD is typical progressive legislation that would not solve the child care problem, if it really is a problem and not another freebie, while raising prices for consumers because of higher taxes. Homelessness is a similar problem progressives have tried and failed to solve by giving out taxpayer funded freebies. Boondoggle legislation is the progressives’ problem.
Instead of implicating South San Francisco companies and councilmembers with corruption simply because they want to avoid unnecessary taxation, David should blame the citizens of South San Francisco for exercising their democratic right to vote down bad ideas.
