Hello and Happy Winter time. ("Popular pest killer pulled", Dec. 8, 2000) I hope the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency abolishes the use of pesticides for any reason. Whatever we do to the environment, we do to ourselves. I sit by San Mateo Creek and enjoy watching a variety of birds drink from its water. Ants, fleas, and grubs have their homes in "lawns and landscapes" (gardens). People can learn to share the earth with ants, fleas, and grubs. People can learn to promote the lives of ants, fleas, and grubs and enjoy free-growing vegetation. Creating private "lawns and landscapes" makes people ill and removes them from their immediate environment. Creating fantasy areas is a denial of death. When we promote the lives of ants, fleas, and grubs, we are promoting our own lives. Ill people get animal gratification in killing creatures. ("pest killer") All creatures have a right to exist and thrive wherever they are. People can learn to make the best of whatever happens, learn to enjoy, respect, and appreciate ants, fleas, and grubs in the wild from a distance and be at peace in their immediate environment. It is not up to humans to control, manage, and alter nature to suit their self interests. People who call creatures "pests" are in the evil paths of existance. People benefit from articles that teach them about organic gardening.
