Editor,
This is truly a very sad case for a very young man, who was only 20 years old when this whole nightmare started for him ("Wrong-way driver readies for leg surgery" in the Nov. 16 edition of the Daily Journal).
Although he and his friend should have not used drugs nor ran from the police, it all seems after two years and I believe at least 15 surgeries, the fact that Joseph Boldt, 22, will have to live with the loss of his best friend the rest of his life is something he will never forget.
The loss that the Kleinheinz family has is also enormous and they will never see their son again, that too, this young man Joseph Boldt will be faced with the rest of his life.
These are two young men who needed drug and alcohol treatments rather than jail time.
Something is wrong with the system that let both these young men down.
What could have been done to stop this from ever getting to the point where two young men both have outstanding arrest warrants for drug charges.
My question is why were they not arrested. When does law enforcement, enforce a warrant or have we got to the point where we just wait till something happens.
I hope someone with your power will look into the system that took one young man's life and left the other young man with a pain in his heart that can never be healed.
