When a letter writer says “it really shocks me that someone who has not contributed a thing to this state other than crawling over the border illegally” he is evidently ignorant of the facts that many undocumented immigrants are working, contributing to the economy of the state and having taxes withheld (“Time for a governor recall” letter in the June 19 edition of the Daily Journal).

I believe you are missing my point. I am, and have been, paying taxes and I still have to pay myself for much of my and wife's healthcare. These individuals, if illegal, can technically not work here and if they work likely get paid under the table. They may be paying some taxes but none of that accrues to Medical. Based on many published statistics, their collective contribution to California's economy is less than 1% so they cost more than they contribute.
