In response to Sue Lempert’s column on Nov. 14, I simply cannot understand how some factual information could have slipped by Ms. Lempert. The potential recall effort of Councilmember Amourence Lee is not about any one specific issue. It is about Lee’s pattern of conduct and lack of compliance to even the most minimal of ethical standards.
Ms. Lempert, the residents of San Mateo deserve a City Council with a membership that holds their oaths of office in positions of public trust above their personal agendas. No, we are not the “old guard.” We are San Mateans who believe in truth, transparency and ethical conduct in city government.
I agree 100% - we need to remove the toxicity from our local government. It’s not about young vs. old but, about respect for the residents of San Mateo.
