Longtime San Mateo resident, MSgt. William (Bill) B. Weiss (ret. USAF), died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, in 1935. After high school, he enlisted in the Marines, beginning his 22 years of military service, with the last 17 in the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in 1974, and moved to San Mateo with his wife and two young daughters. He worked as a bookkeeper for many years for his brother Raymond F. Weiss, a local CPA. After Raymond’s death, Bill continued to work with a small number of clients until his passing. He was also active in both the American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice (Marquez) Weiss of San Mateo; daughter Theresa Weiss-Burk of San Mateo; daughter Elizabeth Weiss, of Woodland Hills, California; and his brother, Richard Weiss of Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in San Mateo 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. A reception will follow the service.
