Sammy John Reynoso, age 96 lived in Redwood City, CA. Passed away July 3, 2024. Born on July 23, 1927 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Father Jose Luis Reynoso, Mother Mary Soto Reynoso. Sammy truly lived a full life.
Sammy attended Central school, McKinley Middle School, and graduated from Sequoia High School. He played football, baseball, and wrestled. He was the star running back in football. Sammy also went on to Veterinarian School. During his high school years Sammy started participating in Rodeos every weekend. That was the start of his Rodeo Career.
Sammy married Joan Elizabeth Clark, the love of his life. They met while attending Sequoia High school and built a loving life that lasted 65 years. Sammy worked as a Contracted Pro Rodeo Clown in 22 states of America for 18 years, while his wife was his secretary and booking agent. Sammy was inducted into the Sam Mateo Hall of Fame in 2016 as well as the Colorado Springs Cowboy Hall of fame, and has countless Tributes in all the States he’s worked in. After his Rodeo Career was over Sammy joined the local 3 union and became a civil engineer for 35 years. When Sammy retired from local 3, he went to work for Stanford university and became a guest services employee for 25 years plus years working all sporting events.
Sammy instilled strong family values in his own family and amongst others. Sammy and his wife Joan were strong Christian people and were members of the First Christian Church in Redwood city for well over 50 years.
Sammy was a Sunday School Teacher, Pop Warner football coach, little league baseball coach, Boy Scout Master, umpire, Referee. Sammy was also contracted by Hollywood to appear in two movies. One movie off hand was called “The Lusty Men” Starring Robert Mitchem and Susan Hayward.
Sammy loved to work with kids of all ages. A couple of Sammy’s highlights were umpiring the Redwood City Donkey softball game, in his rodeo clowning attire, and attending almost every hospital for disabled children before every rodeo performance in all of the states he worked in.
Sammy is survived by his family members: (Sisters) Lil, Cecelia and Alice, (Children) Tink and Mary Ann, (Grandchildren) Miali Marie Reynoso and wife Ally Reynoso, Tink John Reynoso, Wade Clark Reynoso and wife Erica Reynoso, (Great grandchildren) Tinkey’s Daughter Ellie Rayne, Miali’s Daughters Jayda Jean Elizabeth & Rylee Ann Marie, Wades Son Jaxon Wade, and Daughter Aleiyah Victoria
Sammy Life was a Testament of Family Love and Dedication. He will be deeply missed and always Remember.
Services will be conducted by: Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Road, Redwood City, CA. Thursday, July 11 is the viewing from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, a viewing from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. and proceeding to Skylawn Memorial Park from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a short service at 11:00 a.m. After Services there will be a potluck at Sequoia High School, 1201 Brewster Ave Redwood City. For the potluck contact Tink Reynoso so we have an idea on food 650-504-2155.
