Marina Torru peacefully passed away of natural causes on August 17th 2018. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was 86 years young. Marina was born on July 20th 1932 in Harbin China.
Marina spent her early childhood in Harbin, but her family soon moved to San Francisco where she graduated from Sacred Heart Preparatory High School and San Francisco State University.
In San Francisco, Marina met and fell in love with her husband Egon Torru. They settled down in San Francisco eventually moving to Burlingame CA, where they owned and ran Continental Foods which was a very successful Delicatessen and Restaurant.
Marina lived for her children and grandchildren showering them with unconditional love.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her four children Mark Torru, Elizabeth Gallent, Elaina Corvello and John Torru along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Panihida Services were held on Sunday August 19th, at 6:00pm and funeral services were held on Monday August 20th at 10:00am at the Russian Orthodox Church of All Russian Saints at 744 El Camino Real Burlingame CA 94010. Interment was held at Serbian Cemetery, Colma. Services by Crosby-N. Gray & Co., Burlingame.
