A woman suffered major injuries after driving her vehicle off a cliff and landing upside down on the beach below Wednesday evening in Pacifica, police and firefighters said.
Emergency crews responded to the area of Palmetto Avenue and Westline Drive near the Mussel Rock Open Space Preserve around 6:15 p.m.
They found the vehicle had landed on its roof, then scaled down the cliff to extract the driver and sole occupant, who was found to be in critical condition.
She was transported to a hospital by helicopter due to the steep terrain. An update on her condition was not immediately available.
The rescue took approximately 90 minutes, according to the North County Fire Authority.
