The attempted murder trial of a Redwood City woman who eluded police for eight years after allegedly poisoning her husband with a milkshake and fleeing with their son to Mexico has been postponed until early next year because her attorney has prior court obligations.

Elizabeth Fuentes Ortiz, 32, faces charges of attempted murder with a special allegation of torture as well as child abduction charges. Ortiz will return to court Jan. 14, 2002. She has not yet entered a plea, and prosecutor Christine Ford has not announced what penalty the state is seeking.
