A bystander spots a body in the water of Bean Hollow Beach near Pescadero in San Mateo County after 3 p.m. on Wednesday following reports of a person in the water.
Another person has died in the waters off the coast of California when a man fishing with his wife at a beach in Pescadero in San Mateo County was found drowned on Wednesday, California State Parks said.
First responders from multiple agencies responded to Bean Hollow Beach just after 3 p.m. after a bystander saw a man floating in the water.
According to Cal Fire, a woman says she and her husband were wearing waders and were fishing on the rocks. She went to their car for something and when she came back, he was gone.
Cal Fire and State Parks personnel retrieved the man and attempted CPR, but the man, who was in his 30s, was declared deceased at the scene.
The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, is the fourth person to die along the coast in three weeks. On Nov. 14, a man and his child died at Big Sur after a powerful wave pulled the 7-year-old girl out to sea and her father attempted to save her. An Army specialist was swept into the ocean at Soberanes Point along the Garrapata State Park coastline on Nov. 22 and his body has not been recovered.
