A 34-year-old Redwood City homeless man has been charged with felony threat and misdemeanor assault for allegedly threatening patrons and the owner of downtown Redwood City restaurant The Sandwich Spot with a pocket knife, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, David Bale, allegedly brandished a 7-inch pocket knife and was threatening customers to fight at The Sandwich Spot on May 16 at 11:54 p.m., Wagstaffe said.
Bale then allegedly tried to punch the restaurant’s owner, missing him, and flicked a blade open while telling the victim that he would slice him, Wagstaffe said.
Bale’s bail was set at $2,500 and he pleaded not guilty to three charges, including felony threat, misdemeanor assault and carrying a switchblade.
