A 26-year-old San Leandro man was arrested in the city of San Mateo on Friday after allegedly being found with suspected cocaine, ketamine and a loaded firearm in his vehicle.
San Mateo police officers pulled over Bao Thai Pham in a traffic stop for an alleged cellphone violation at about 10 p.m. at East 25th Avenue and South El Camino Real, according to a statement from the San Mateo Police Department.
After he allegedly agreed to let police search his vehicle, officers allegedly found about a dozen baggies of suspected cocaine, one baggie of suspected ketamine, and a large amount of cash on Pham and in the vehicle. A loaded semi-automatic pistol was also allegedly found in the trunk, along with 31 rounds of ammunition. A previous felony conviction prohibits Pham from possessing firearms, police said.
Police accused Pham of possessing the narcotics with an intent to sell and confiscated the cash. He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on multiple allegations, including carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
