Eighth grade reading and language arts teacher Robert Picciotto and seventh grade social studies and English language arts teacher Ken Klieman, both from Bowditch Middle School, were named two of eight recipients to receive grants from the California Retired Teachers Association. Fifth grade teacher Janet Chappell, from Laurel Elementary School, was also awarded a $400 grant.

Picciotto intends to use the grant to enhance his unit on reading and writing poetry by inviting a guest poet to share his craft with the students. Klieman will use the funds to support an educational to Stanford University. Chappell will use the funds to take her students to the San Francisco Academy of Science.

For the 16th year, Feleciana Stevenson will direct the El Camino High Dance show ‘Off The Wall,’ at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 through Sunday, May 14, with an additional 1 p.m. matinee show Sunday at school, 1320 Mission Road, South San Francisco. The show will consist of dances and songs from or inspired by music videos including new and original work choreographed by Stevenson, alumni director Sarah Chinn and guest artists. Tickets are $10.
