San Mateo police arrested three people Tuesday after receiving a 911 call about a robbery and ongoing attempted carjacking, according to police.
Officers responded to the Marina Plaza Shopping Center just after 8 p.m. and got a statement from the victim describing the three suspects. The victim told police that he arranged to sell a watch on Facebook Marketplace but when he arrived, he was allegedly assaulted by three people instead. His attackers allegedly had a firearm with them.
The suspects, two men and a woman, allegedly stole from the man after pointing a gun at him before proceeding to attempt to steal his car. After being unable to steal the car, the suspects fled on foot, police said.
Police arrested a 22-year-old Citrus Heights resident and a 20-year-old Sacramento resident after seeing them get into a Jeep while allegedly fleeing the scene.
Police arrested the third suspect, a 21-year-old Sacramento resident, after allegedly watching her flee into a nearby apartment complex. They issued a shelter-in-place order for the complex out of concern the suspect may have a gun. She was arrested in a carport area of the apartment complex after being located by a police drone.
Police allegedly found the stolen items and a loaded, unregistered Glock pistol with an extended magazine nearby.
All three were previously convicted of felonies, with two of them still on probation at the time of their arrests. They were arrested without incident and booked into San Mateo County Jail.
