Dr. Rochelle Hooks was hired as the new director of Special Education Support Services for the San Mateo Union High School District. Dr. Hooks is replacing Dr. Holly Wade, who served in the position since July 2020. Hooks previously served in the same role at the K-12 San Lorenzo Unified School District in Alameda County.

San Mateo High School is hosting their production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Opening night is Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. and will show Friday and Saturday at the same time. Camille Chu and Shayan Salimi of Nueva School in San Mateo were named regional winners of the world’s largest K-12 science competition, ExploraVision, for their project “Enhancing Photosynthesis in Trees for Carbon Reduction using Rubisco Activase.”

Suzanna Linnert of Menlo Park, Zachary Nathanson of Millbrae, and Jonathan Prado of Daly City were named to Champlain College’s Dean’s List for GPAs of 3.5 or higher.

Rose McParland of San Mateo was named to the Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic West Campus in San Jose.

Rami Shnoudi and Marissa Uy of South San Francisco graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic’s West Campus in San Jose.
