Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai wins the Nobel Prize in literature

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai has won the Nobel Prize in literature for what the Nobel committee called his compelling and visionary work. His novels, known for their philosophical and darkly humorous style, often unfold in single sentences. Some of his works, like “Satantango” and “The Melancholy of Resistance,” have been adapted into films. Krasznahorkai, 71, has received numerous awards, including the 2015 Man Booker International Prize and the 2019 National Book Award for Translated Literature. He is the first Hungarian winner since 2002, joining a prestigious list of laureates like Ernest Hemingway and Toni Morrison.
