St. Francis 6, Serra 4
The Lancers dropped the Padres into a tie for first place in the WCAL, withstanding a seventh-inning rally.
Serra and Valley Christian both have 8-2 records with four games left in the regular season.
St. Francis (3-6-1 WCAL, 9-12-1 overall) took control right away with a four-run bottom of the first inning. Serra (8-2, 17-4) got on the board with a run in the fourth added three more in the seventh.
Michael Pedrazzo drove in three runs for the Padres with a bases-clearing double in the Padres’ final at-bat, but Serra was held to just five hits. St. Francis got three RBIs from Tysen Ellis and two from Luke DeVine.
Woodside 7, Mills 1
The Ocean Division-leading Wildcats had little trouble in beating the Vikings.
Woodside (8-1 PAL Ocean, 16-2-1 overall) scored three runs in the top of the second, two in the third and two more in the seventh.
Connor Davison went 2 for 3 with two RBIs to lead the Woodside offense. Jayce Enochs, Vinny Vazquez and Jack Jay all drove in a run, as well, for the Wildcats. Trent Amoroso improved to 7-0 on the mound for Woodside, allowing one run on four hits in six innings of work.
Nick Lafon had the RBI for Mills (2-7, 6-13).
Priory 8, Harker 0
The Panthers stayed one game ahead of South City in the Lake Division standings after shutting out the Eagles.
Owen Lee and Kai Park each drove in two runs for Priory (8-0 PAL Lake, 10-1 overall). Michael Hilderbrandt, James Weaver and Nathan Sun combined on the mound to allow just five hits, with Hilderbrandt earning the win with five innings of work.

San Mateo (4-5 PAL Ocean, 11-10 overall) got a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh from Jesus Olivas to beat Half Moon Bay (3-6, 7-13), 5-4.
Menlo School (6-3 PAL Ocean, 14-8 overall) starting pitcher Ryan Schnell pitched a complete-game shutout in a 6-0 win over El Camino (5-4, 11-6).
Terra Nova (3-6 PAL Ocean, 7-10-1 overall) beat Aragon (5-4, 11-9), 5-1.
South City (9-1 PAL Lake, 16-4) kept the pressure on first-place Priory following a 10-2 win over Westmoor (4-6, 9-7-1).
Jefferson (1-9 PAL Lake, 2-12 overall) picked up its first division win of the season, 5-4, over Crystal (1-9, 2-11).
The Bay School (16-2 overall) knocked off Design Tech (10-4), 4-1.
Softball
Hillsdale 9, San Mateo 0
The Knights rebounded from their loss to Carlmont last Thursday with a shutout of the crosstown rival Bearcats.
Lexi Kuka got it done at the plate and in the circle for Hillsdale (7-2 PAL Bay, 19-3 overall). She had a two-run double and also picked up the complete-game win, allowing just two hits.
San Mateo falls to 5-4 in Bay play and 7-8 overall.
Carlmont 11, Sequoia 1
The Scots kept pace with Hillsdale atop the Bay Division standings with the mercy-rule win over the Ravens.
Carlmont (7-2 PAL Bay, 7-8-1 overall) scored runs in each of the first four innings, including three in the second and four in the third. Bella Wilson and Kylie Rouspil each drove in two runs for the Scots, with both collecting a double. Sophia Cerelli got the win for the Scots, allowing one run on five hits in four innings of work. Sienna Farrell worked the final two frames.
Sequoia falls to 0-9 in Bay Division play and 1-13 overall.

The Bears continue to pace the PAL Bay Division with an undefeated record after routing the Panthers.
Jack Kryger poured in seven goals for M-A (6-0 PAL Bay, 15-1 overall), while Mikey Sanford and Ben Skirboll each netted hat tricks. Ben Timm scored a pair of goals for the Bears.
Burlingame falls to 1-6 in Bay play and 2-8 overall.

Palo Alto (5-1 PAL Bay) topped Mountain View (2-5), 16-5.
Carlmont (5-2 PAL Bay, 10-3 overall) rolled past Los Altos (0-6, 0-10), 16-6.

Boys’ tennis
Menlo captures WBAL doubles titles
It was an all-Menlo doubles final in the WBAL individual championships, with Sam Engel and Nikhil Kothari needing a third-set, super tiebreaker win to beat teammates Octave Moha and Derkek Jain.
Engel and Kothari dropped the first set in a tiebreaker, 4-7, but won the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-4. They then prevailed in the third, 10-6.
In the WBAL singles final, Harker’s Tanishk Konduri knocked off Crystal’s Anton Lim, the reigning Daily Journal Boys’ Tennis Player of the Year.
Badminton
San Mateo 15, Menlo-Atherton 15 (San Mateo wins tiebreaker, 3-2)
Vivian Shi posted a two-set shutout — 21-0, 21-0 — at No. 1 girls’ singles to help the Bearcats beat the Bears on a tiebreaker. Shi’s win, combined with wins at No. 1 girls’ doubles from Elexis Yang and Alex Young, along with the mixed doubles win from Shaun Bose and Rosie Cruanes, gave the Bearcats the tiebreaker edge.
The tiebreaker is determined by the number of No. 1 winners each team has: boys’ and girls’ singles, boys’ and girls’ doubles, and mixed doubles.
M-A got No. 1 wins at boys’ singles from Thomas Bernadicou, along with a win at No. 1 boys’ doubles from Addison Youngblood and Burke Montague.
San Mateo improves to 5-6 in Bay Division matches, while M-A falls to 4-7.
