The two Atherton rivals opened the season with a hard-fought draw.
Menlo (0-0-1) scored its goal in the second half, with Audrey Katz converting a Jazlyn Romero Garcia pass into the Knights goal.
M-A is also 0-0-1.
Crystal 4, Silver Creek 0
Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Gryphons erupted for three second-half goals in the shutout of the Raiders.
It was the season opener for Crystal (1-0).
Woodside 4, Newark Memorial 1
Taking a 1-0 lead into the break, the Wildcats added three more in the second half to stay undefeated early in the season.
Woodside improves to 3-0 and had outscored the opposition 14-2 so far this year.

Notre Dame-Belmont (1-1) dropped a 2-1 decision to Presentation (1-0), with the Panthers scoring a goal in each half.
Riordan (1-0) scored a goal in each half to beat Half Moon Bay (0-1) 2-0.
Leigh (1-0) topped Burlingame (0-1), 1-0.
Lynbrook (1-1) beat Capuchino (0-2), 3-1.
Pioneer (1-0) scored once in each half in a 2-0 shutout of Hillsdale (1-1).
Boys’ basketball
Westmoor 55, Emerald-Dublin 41
A 21-point third quarter propelled the Rams to the win over the Aeronauts.
Leading 22-18 at halftime, Westmoor (2-1) outscored Emerald (0-2) 21-13 in the third to take a 43-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
Austin Prado and Adrian Payne tied for team-high scoring honors with 13 points apiece for Westmoor. Sherman Fox added 12 points for the Rams. Defensively, Westmoor came up with 11 steals.

Lowell (1-0) opened its season with a 63-37 win over South City (1-1).
Capuchino (1-2) picked up its first win by holding off Rise University Prep (0-2), 61-56.
Urban-SF (2-0) cruised past Summit Shasta (0-2), 64-46.
Crystal (1-0) opened its season with a 68-52 win over Live Oak-Morgan Hill (1-1).
Jewish Community (4-1) beat Pacific Bay Christian (0-1), 52-29.
Girls’ basketball
Hillsdale 61, Prospect 34
It took a while for the Knights to get their game in gear and when it did, they galloped away from the Panthers.
Leading 12-11 after the first quarter, Hillsdale (2-0), using defense to transition to offense, outscored Prospect (0-2) 29-4 in the second period to lead 41-15 at halftime. The Panthers outscored the Knights 19-18 in the second half, but never really put a dent in their deficit.
Daniella Sierra led Hillsdale with 14 points and five steals, while Lila Corkish added 13.

Mercy 71, Immaculate Conception 15
The Bears scored in double digits in all four quarters as they picked up their first win of the season.
Mercy (1-1) led 15-5 after the first quarter before scoring 20 in both the second and third quarters. The Bears defense held IC (0-1) to five points in three quarters and shut it out in the third.
Burlingame 60, Nueva School 16
A 19-point first quarter propelled the Panthers to their first win over the Mavericks.
Burlingame (1-1) led 19-8 after the first quarter and scored 18 in the third to cruise to the win.
Menlo School 33, Leigh 25
The Knights got past the Longhorns in a low-scoring affair.
Anika Shah led Menlo (1-1) with 14 points, while Ava Allen added eight.
It was the season opener for Leigh.
Sequoia 34, Independence 25
The Ravens combined for 23 points in the second and third quarters as both teams struggled to score.
Sequoia (2-1) led 9-5 after the first quarter and 22-14 at halftime. The Ravens pushed their lead to 32-23 going into the fourth, where the teams combined for four points.

Notre Dame-Belmont (2-0) doubled up Westmont (2-1), 50-25.
Terra Nova (1-0) opened its season with a 45-39 win over Pacific Grove (0-1).
Wilcox (2-0) held off South City (2-1), 58-55.
Half Moon Bay (1-0) rolled over Silver Creek (0-2), 66-29.
MONDAY
Girls’ soccer
Aragon 5, Mills 1
Madison Ketcham, despite being a defender, proved to be one heck of a goal scorer in the Dons’ season-opening win over Mills.
Ketcham, a senior, scored four goals for Aragon (1-0) to give Kaylyn Toyama her first victory as the Dons’ head coach.
Evelina Karsh supplied the other goal for the Dons, while Amelia Ortiz, Tessa Matthews and Miley Rooper all had assists for Aragon.
Boys’ soccer
Sequoia 2, Jefferson 0
The Ravens scored both their goals in the first half as they shut out the Grizzlies.
Tiko Gupta and Blaisen Kehr each scored a goal for Sequoia (2-1), while goalkeepers Chris Verdusco and Max Slayen combined for the clean sheet.
Jefferson falls to 0-2 on the season.
In other action ...
Menlo-Atherton (1-0) scored the game’s only goal in the first half and that was enough in a 1-0 win over Riordan (0-1).
Girls’ basketball result
El Camino (2-0) beat Lincoln-SF (1-1), 48-36.
