Sacred Heart Prep 1, Half Moon Bay 0
The Gators scored once in the bottom of the first inning and rode that to the win as a pair of pitchers limited the Cougars to just one hit.
Kyle Sweeney got the start and worked five no-hit innings, striking out seven and walking two in earning the win. Nico Pollioni got the save with one-hit ball over the last two innings.
JP Durrett drove in the game’s only run, plating Pollioni. Both players had two hits as the Gators had only six hits.
Paxton Holden broke up the no-hitter for Half Moon Bay.
Sequoia 15, King’s Academy 9
The Ravens and Knights ran it back a day after King’s posted a 4-3 win Wednesday with Sequoia earning the series split with the win Thursday.
It took a while for the pitching to find a rhythm as both teams scored two run in the first inning and six in the second as the game was tied at 8-all after two innings.
But Sequoia (1-1 PAL Bay, 7-2 overall) settled in and held King’s (1-1, 6-4) to one run over the final five innings. The Knights took a 9-8 lead with a run in the top of fourth, but the Ravens finally took control with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Mario Fausto and Morgan Winfield, the reigning Daily Journal Co-Athletes of the Week continue their power surge for the Ravens. Fausto hit two more home runs to go along with last week’s grand slam, while Winfield also went deep after also going yahtzee against Santa Teresa last week, as well.
Those were three of five home runs hit Thursday. Cole Hymer also went yard for Sequoia, while Nate Plata and Max Roberts both went deep for King’s.

Harker (2-0 PAL Lake, 5-4 overall) rolled past Crystal (1-2, 1-4-1), 15-9.
Santa Teresa (4-2 overall) scored nine runs in the first three innings to beat Capuchino (7-2), 10-4.
Design Tech (1-0 PSAL, 2-4-1 overall) opened PSAL play by blasting KIPPSJ Collegiate (0-1, 0-3), 18-0.
Boys’ lacrosse
Menlo-Atherton 5, Palo Alto 3
The Bears ran their Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division winning streak to 36 in a row after beating the Vikings.
M-A (1-0 PAL Bay, 2-3 overall) scored single goals in the first three quarters and closed with a two-goal fourth. The Bears’ defense held Palo Alto scoreless in the first half.
Ben Skirboll scored a hat trick to lead the M-A offense, with Carey Wolf and Matthew Sanford rounded out the scoring with a goal each.
Sequoia 5, Woodside 4
The Ravens rallied from a 3-1, halftime deficit to hand the rival Wildcats their first loss of the season in a PAL Ocean Division match.
Woodside (0-1 PAL Ocean, 4-1 overall) led 3-1 after the first quarter and the score remained the same at halftime.
But Sequoia (2-0, 5-1) scored four goals in the third period while the Ravens’ defense shut out the Wildcats in the quarter, leading 5-3 going into the fourth.
Liam Carver and Aiden Olson each scored two goals for Woodside.
In other action ...
Aragon opened PAL Ocean play by scoring 12 first-half goals on its way to a 16-1 win over Los Altos (0-2 PAL Ocean, 1-3 overall).
Boys’ tennis
Hillsdale 7, Half Moon Bay 0
The Ocean Division-leading Knights stayed undefeated after sweeping the Cougars.
Lucas Ko dominated at No. 4 singles for Hillsdale (4-0 PAL Ocean), winning without dropping a game — 6-0, 6-0. Ameer Dababo, playing at No. 1 singles, won 6-1, 6-0. The Knights No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams — Matheus Baigo and Kellyn Kalmbach, and Devon Sheridan and Silas Keithley — posted identical 6-0, 6-1 scores.
In all, Hillsdale lost a total of 13 games across seven matches and 14 sets.

Bay Division leader, Aragon (7-0 PAL Bay, 9-1 overall) stayed undefeated after topping Mills (3-4), 5-2.

The Scots, who have won outright or shared the PAL Bay Division title three out of the last four years, got past the Panthers — 25-20, 25-23, 25-27, 25-20.
Octavio Ocho Chen, a freshman, made his varsity debut for Carlmont, finishing with seven kills.

Menlo School 206, Sacred Heart Prep 228, Design Tech 233
The Knights picked up a pair of West Bay Athletic League win by beating the Gators and Dragons at Baylands Golf Links in Palo Alto.
SHP senior Eduardo Tapper posted the low round of the day with a 1-under 35. Menlo was led by senior William Beesley and sophomore Spencer Toland, who both finished with 2-over 38s. Obasi Winn and Riley Jasen both carded 42s for the Knights, while Asher Darling shot a 45 to round out the scoring for Menlo (4-3).
Badminton scores
Carlmont (5-0 PAL Bay) dominated South City (1-3), 27-3.
Menlo-Atherton (2-3 PAL Bay) topped Mills (0-5), 18-12.
Westmoor (3-1 PAL Bay) kept the pressure on first-place Carlmont with a 21-9 win over San Mateo (2-3).
Aragon (3-2 PAL Bay) cruised past Burlingame (3-2), 25-5.
Capuchino (3-0 PAL Ocean) stayed undefeated following a 26-4 win over Woodside (0-4).
El Camino (4-0 PAL Ocean) stayed a half-game ahead of Capuchino after handing Sequoia (3-1) is first loss of the season, a 27-3.
Hillsdale (3-2 PAL Ocean) thumped Terra Nova (2-3), 24-6.
Boys’ swimming
Menlo-Atherton 111, Aragon 59
M-A junior Michael Powell set a new school record, swimming a 1:54.69 in winning the 200 individual medley.
