Menlo School’s Sophie Siminoff shot a 1-over 72 for a fourth-place individual finish and led the Knights to a fourth-place team finish at the Central Coast Section tournament at Rancho Cañada Golf Course in Carmel Tuesday.
Siminoff’s score and fourth-place finish was good enough to qualify her for the Northern California tournament next week.
Menlo-Atherton’s Naomi Lee was the top finisher from the Peninsula Athletic League as Lee finished in a three-way tie for 16th with a round of 76. Menlo’s Jesse Rong was a shot back in a three-way tie for 19th place with a 77.
PAL champion, Tessa Ulrich of Aragon, could not follow up her PAL magic and finished in a tie for 37th with an 84. Helen Ye of Carlmont, which does not have a full girls’ team, qualified at the PAL tournament and finished in a tie for 39th with an 85.
In addition to Siminoff and Rong, Lauren Yang shot an 87, while Nicole Henderson and Claire Wilson each shot an 88 to give Menlo a team score of 412 to finish just outside of qualifying for the Nor Cal team tournament. Only the top three teams qualify for Nor Cal and St. Ignatius secured that final spot with a team score of 408. St. Francis of Mountain View won the team title with a five-player total of 377.
Valley Christian’s Quynn Duong and Samantha Gong of St. Ignatius finished in a tie for the top spot with a 68, with Duong being awarded the CCS title by virtue of a tiebreaker.
