We can't believe that anyone would want to get rid of the Taco Bell at Linda Mar Beach (June 15 edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal). What kind of elitist group would call themselves "Pacifica's Environmental Family" and call for the removal of Taco Bell from "their" Linda Mar Beach because they don't like fast food?
The public has shown they it likes Taco Bell - that's why there are so many of them. The public also likes the Taco Bell at Linda Mar Beach since it is one of the most profitable small businesses on the Peninsula. We often drive over to Linda Mar from Redwood City just to eat at that Taco Bell.
The fact that it is right next to the water and still accessible by wheelchairs, crutches or walkers for older citizens and you can get a five-dollar lunch with a million-dollar view of the ocean makes it one of the best deals in Linda Mar.
The fact that it is also accessible to young people who have just been surfing, dripping wet and covered with sand makes it indispensable for the beach crowd. Linda Mar would be making a big mistake to move or get rid of this wonderful asset.
