Editor,

Last week, President Donald Trump compared removing memorials of white supremacists, to removing statues of historical leaders such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

you forgot to mention Yann all the white soldiers who fought for the Union to make the difference in ending slavery. It was the white man who often fought brother and friend in order to preserve our Union and end the institution of slavery. I know that story doesn't square with the white supremacist theory you and others want to spread but you might want to make that point to bring us together.

Yann. Thank you for you observation. Robert E; Lee called himself a traitor to the United States. Stated that when he died he was not to be buried in his Confederate uniform nor was anyone allowed to attend in a Confederate uniform and no raising of the Stars and Bars. I's sure he would not have wanted a statue or statues erected in his name honoring the Confederate Army or his place in its history. Everyone who thinks knows that there were white people who fought defending the Union. Were some closeted White Supremacists no one knows. Again Thank you for your letter.
