When I received a notice from the city for a small cell infrastructure project within 500 feet of my apartment, I was thrilled. Currently, I pay $70 a month for a slow, copper-based internet connection from the only provider servicing my building. In today’s age of hybrid work and Zoom meetings, this outdated connection results in grainy calls.
New 5G connectivity, operating at higher frequencies, allows for faster speeds and more connections than 4G. However, because it’s new, it requires new infrastructure. The higher a frequency is, the more it scatters over shorter distances. So, rather than one big tower far off in the distance, there needs to be many tiny radio stations, about the size of a kitchen sink, spread out over a neighborhood. Facilitating projects like these will allow for significantly lower costs in internet through 5G home plans and instant competition with plans that relied on being the only service connection into a building.
Some local activists falsely claim these projects jeopardize public health. This is not true; there are no health risks associated with this infrastructure, as proven by countless installations nationwide. Easy access to high-speed internet is crucial for the well-being and quality of life of San Mateo residents.
The city of San Mateo is currently evaluating a Wireless Ordinance and Design Standards Update. I strongly urge the City Council to move this project forward so all residents can benefit from high-speed internet access as soon as possible.
A buddy of mine saw one of those 5G protest leaders at Draeger's, chatting away on her cell phone, pressed right to her head! Can you believe it? These folks run around screaming about 5G frying our brains, yet there she is, phone to her ear. The hypocrisy is thicker than molasses in January.
What’s happened to common sense? All this fuss over 5G is just a tempest in a teapot. It's absurd how they're scared of something they themselves use every day!
Interesting that you seem to understand that pressing a cell phone right up to the head is not a good idea. So why would high amounts of radiation continually hitting us from nearby 5g cell towers be ok? 20 years ago it would have taken a couple of months to download a movie on a cell phone but now it takes a few seconds if you live near 5G. So we are definitely getting hit with a lot of radiation.
The human body is very electrical. For example, our ability to move is caused by electrical changes in the atoms of molecules that release energy. Electricity is involved in the transfer of messages between nerve cells.
A 2018 government study found a link between radio frequency radiation and cancer and dna damage. A Kaiser study found a threefold higher risk of miscarriages in pregnant women in areas with higher non-ionizing radiation.
The idea that everyone should suffer potential dangerous health effects for the convenience and cost saving of a few is ridiculous. All 5G rollouts should cease until they are proven safe by unbiased, peer reviewed studies.
Your reply constituted only an ad hominem and no actual reply to the arguments presented. Calling someone names is weak .
By the way, someone wearing a mask in a car - a better example would be someone wearing a surgical mask outside on a windy day - might be an example of someone who had completely drunk the koolaid of a particular government and corporate narrative that we are aware of. You have similarly bought the corporate koolaid of the complete safey of non-ionizing radiation, so the example would more properly apply to yourself.

While driving, do you wear a mask? Being afraid of everything and a fear monger only frightens the democrat masses and is no way to live.
