Editor,
My name is Michael Muir and I am a Boy Scout. I think that it is unreasonable that children under the age of 16 (I’m 14 years old) are not permitted to visit any patients due to the swine flu. This is important to me because on Nov. 6 my grandmother will be having back surgery at Stanford University Hospital, and I won’t be able to visit her. She will miss not seeing her grandchildren after her surgery because she views us as support — without us she’ll feel sad. I think that instead of not allowing visitors, hospitals should give visitors disposable respiratory masks, plastic gloves or Purell hand sanitizer and have their temperature taken. I hope that you and the hospitals will take this into consideration.
