International Lighthouse Day

To celebrate International Lighthouse Day on Saturday, Aug. 16, a guided tour of the grounds of the Light Station was presented at the Pigeon Point Light Station State Park. Here, State Park Interpreter Elizabeth Crowley shows off the original Fresnel lens which was assembled from 1,008 prisms and came ‘around the horn’ from New York in 1872. On the evening of Nov. 15, visitors will be able to see the lamp fully lit, 153 years after the lighthouse first went into operation. For more information go to www.parks.ca.gov/
