Editor,

On Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, we will turn our clocks back one hour; if on Tuesday, Nov. 5, the Republican Party regains the White House, wins the Senate, and retains the House, turn your clocks back 70 years.

Good morning, Steve

Turning back the clock 70 years would bolster the Democratic Party leadership's claim we live in a systemically racist society. It would return to a time ten years before Republicans in the House and Senate voted in greater proportion to approve the Civil Rights Act of 1964. What could we expect would follow such a turning back the clock? Seven decades of Democratic Party control of our largest cities with Black communities and an explosion of drugs, gun violence, joblessness, abysmal HS graduation rates and an increasing number of single mothers. The clock has already been turned back by the Democratic Party. It has been turned back 170 years... living in those Democratic Party controlled cities today is like living on plantations.

Thanks, Mr. Fowler, for pointing out the ridiculousness of Mr. Herron’s LTE. Of course, perhaps Mr. Herron is okay with Democrat policies back then.

Hey, Terence

Oh, it gets better. The Democratic Party pushed the Kansas-Nebraska Act through Congress 170 years ago. It was signed by a Democratic Party president. The Act opened up slavery in the new territories created by the Democratic Party's legislation. The Act pushed some northern Democrats (to their credit) to join an emerging political movement that stood against the spread of slavery... the Republican Party. Can you say... switcheroo?

Not So Common

Steve, Trump and the republicans have pried the democrat foot off the necks of the black for the second time. Come November, minorities will be voting for Trump in record number, regardless of the color of the woman the democrats use as their next puppet. The pawns the left has used for 60+ years are free. They realize the racists and demons in the room are the liberals who have kept them in chains by providing condoms, abortions, food stamps and countless excuses as to why they were victims.

Mr. Herron - Great Idea! Turn the clocks back 50 years? If voting Republican will do that, I'm all in because, in 1950 there was:

(1) Our District 15 was Republican stronghold

Republican Gordon L. McDonough (incumbent) 112,704 87%

(2) No DEI, rather integrity and equity were the benchmarks

(3) Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts were going strong. No need to worry about sexual assault.

(4) Families could live well on just one salary, (Dad worked and Mom stayed home with the kids).

(5) Families could expect to be able to buy (afford) a starter home.

(6) Population was much slimmer. If you saw an overweight or fat person, people staired and thought they were sick or something.

(7) Kids were taught in school to beware of that evil thing called communism, instead of embracing it.

(8) Calif., schools were ranked No.2 in the nation, rather than No. 27-46 as they are now.

(9) Voting locations were in people's homes, counted that same day on paper, and results announced on the news that evening.

(10) People lived in mixed race neighborhoods and never thought anything about the differences. All had the same basic sense of community and helping each other.

(11) No men in women's sports (what a ridiculous idea).

(12) No men in women's locker rooms.

(13) No gay pride flags, etc.

(14) People were patriotic.

(15) Sunday church and dinners were looked forward to.

(16) Children were taught to save money, have piggy banks, and invested in savings bonds through school sponsored programs.

(17) Neighborhoods were safe. Kids played together in the streets, rode bikes, etc.

(18) Neighbors knew each other.

(19) Much of CA was Republican.

Take me back 70 years, please!

Steve, your thoughts and counter arguments please? BTW, and God was the foundation that made America and the envy of the entire world
