Ongoing events in the Mideast and Ukraine prove two things. Diplomacy and sanctions do not work while a strong military and the willingness to use it against weak neighbors does.

You are absolutely right. The US is more prepared than Europe as usual while Europe neglects its military spending in favor of social spending and reliance on the US to do the heavy lifting on defense.
