Editor,
Take the pledge to “Love North Central.”
Glass bottles, cans, fruit peels, plastic water bottles, cigarette lighters, socks, Styrofoam take-out food containers, paper and plastic to-go beverage containers, chewing gum, cigarette butts, bottle caps, shopping carts and household furniture are frequently found on our sidewalks and in our street gutters and planting strips. This is not what we want for our neighborhood.
I invite you to join the Home Association of North Central San Mateo (HANCSM) and its partners, the city of San Mateo Public Works, Code Enforcement, and Parks and Recreation departments, the City Manager’s Office, Recology, Cal Water, neighborhood churches and schools, the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, other community organizations and our sponsors 9 a.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Cal Water building, located at 341 N. Delaware St. (please enter at the parking lot off of North Claremont Street) for a neighborhood clean-up day.
All ages and abilities are welcome! Registration opens at 9 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. Volunteers can win prizes while enjoying a barbecue lunch at noon with your neighbors following the cleanup. Wear comfortable shoes and come ready to work hard and have fun! Gloves and bags will be provided. Pre-registration is encouraged at hancsm.wordpress.com/love.
