Letter: No nuclear power

The letter by Mike Caggiano published in the March 30 edition of the Daily Journal mourns the fact that we human beings have "stunning stupidly and near-sightedness” but all he can do is assume the extraterrestrials are having a good time laughing at us. There is more we can and must do.

We are now waiting for the global winds to bring us a dose of radioactive plutonium. Plutonium will emit radiation for the next 76 million years. It is named plutonium after Pluto, the God of the underworld — God of death and destruction. Pluto is the ruler of hell and he is god of the wealthy ones. Our government is in the hands of the wealthy ones and acts in their interests.

It is not enough to know this, we must fight back for the sake of all life on earth. The release of plutonium into the atmosphere will cause death and genetic damage for 20 generations into the future. The indigenous people of our land caution us to make decisions considering the seven generations that will follow us. It is insane to risk so much life when, with the money our president has planned to build more nuclear death plants, we can put solar panels on every home in the nation. We can build wind and tidal generators and conserve energy. Instead of saying nuclear power is folly, we must actively petition our elected officials to vote on the advice of their constituents over their financial contributors.

Write, call and email the president, our senators and our members of Congress. Tell them that nuclear power is too dangerous. No insurance company will insure the damage they may do and our government should not be so foolish as to underwrite such insanity.
